Masks

Lately I discovered some super easy recipes for face and hair masks.

"The first thing that comes to mind when it comes to masks you can do yourself is an avocado mask. It's extremely nourishing and that's exactly what the hair needs after a summer of fun! I find the most simple method is avocado and olive oil. I usually do about 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil per avocado. It's especially nice if you heat the olive oil before mixing it with the avocado. Apply to dry hair and leave for 20-30 minutes then shampoo off with a delicate shampoo and a nourishing conditioner. Avocado is very high in fatty acids and a good source of vitamin D and Potassium, and olive oil will help keep the shine in your hair!"

Super Easy! Check out this link for the full article:

I also recently got this shampoo from Costco by Neutrogena and its an anti-residue shampoo that clarifies. My aunt is a hairdresser and she recommended it for me, but it would really be great for anyone who uses a lot of hair products. What it does is get all the gunk out of your hair that could be left over from product, baby powder(for me!) or any other stuff your regular shampoo doesn't get out. This shampoo also claims to "make your favourite shampoo work better.

Here's a good Face Mask recipe! This mask is meant to shrink pores. So, you apply the paste before bed and rinse in the morning.

3 tablespoons of brewers yeast (I"m yet to find this...)
3 tablespoons of milk
1 tablespoon of yogurt

Another suggestion was to look for sweet almond or grape seed oil to rub into cheeks and chin at night for a natural glow. It's probably found at a health food store...

Good Hair

This is my issue:

I get bored so easily. I can never have one thing one way for too long. I like switching up my looks, but for example I've never been able to grow out my bangs long cuz I get bored of them and cut them off...especially when I see Zooey or I listen to her. She is adorable and I love her with bangs, so I'll cut them and then I get bored of them! Thankfully they grow pretty fast, and then I want this other girl's hair.

UH! It's like the circle of death or something.

hair death...

Crazy Celebs

Celebrities give their kids the most psycho name at times. And to be honest, I find it fascinating. Sometimes they're wicked cool, but sometimes, they're just plain terrible.

I was just searching around looking up stuff and here's the highlights:

- David Bowie named his kid Zowie Bowie (a boy!)

- Frank Zappa named his kids: Dweezil, Moon Unit, Diva Thin Muffin, and Ahmet

- Bob Geldof named his daughters: Fifi-Trixibelle, Little Pixie, and Peaches Honeyblossom.

- Shannyn Sossamon named her son Audio Science.

- David Duchovny & Tea Peoni named their kid 'Kyd'. Lazy much??

- Magician, Penn Jilette named his son Moxie CrimeFighter.

- Forrest Whittaker's kids are: Ocean, Sonnet, True, and Autumn

- Jason Lee named his son Pilot Inspektor.

- Ginger Spice (Geri Halliwell) named her kid Bluebell Madonna.

- Bono's daughter is Memphis Eve.

- Nicholas Cage's son is named Kal-El...?

- Sylvester Stallone's daughter is named Sage Moonblood.

- Gwen Stefani's son is Zuma Nesta Rock (...sipping Iced tea quickly on a boulder?)

- Jamie Oliver's daughters are named: Poppy Honey Rosie, Daisy Boo Pamela, and Petal Blossom Rainbow.

- Melissa Ethridge and her partner Julie Cypher combined their last names together to give their kid a special middle name of 'Cypheridge'... ya.

It's official. Creativity has it's limits.

Cutiepie Cousin

Trinity Kubassek:

Ultimate Scarf

Obviously I need this.

First Try!

This goes out to my friend, Heidi. She loves to try new things and experiment and make cute outfits!

So, the other day I went on a crazy thrifting spree and found a bunch of awesome stuff at the VV on Ottawa Street in Kitchener...I'll post some picks later.

Anyways, I got this one sweater (pretty sure it's form urban outfitters...) that I LOVE but it was kinda big at the bottom (ideally i would've needed a small, but you don't get to pick and choose when thrifting! Either it fits or it don't!)

It was a size large, but I thought to myself, I can fix this! So I found this old braided belt in my room that I never wear and cut a little hole in the front. then i just patiently pushed it all the way through the bottom of the sweater. It also helped that it had a bead on it so i had something to grab onto... It hangs down kinda far, but I don't really care. I think it'll be a really cute sweater for the summer 'cause its light coloured and not too heavy either!

Look what I did!

40 days.

mmmm cannot wait. the countdown has officially begun.

Next on the list...

SO! American Apparel just opened on King St. in Uptown and I'm super pumped. Even though I've never been a huge supporter (i.e. big spender) I'm still a big fan. Last time I was there I wanted things, but I was too cheap.
Here they are, and they're next on my list.
ps: Is it too late for scarves? Nah... I'm thinking grey...

Dressing Like a Pro.

I was re-reading an issue of LOU LOU magazine that I got my sister for Christmas and it had an article called "The Elements of Style". Basically, it focused on what to wear in a boardroom/working environment. Here's some highlights:

1. Have the Right Hemline
- "The mini" has a place in a more creative office when paired with opaque tights, but it's best to stick to skirts and dresses that hit at the knee. Aim for a few centimeters above if you're on the petite side, and a little bit longer "if your gams go on and on".

2. Reach for the highest heels you can find.
- They command attention like nobody's business...

3. Ground rules for accessorizing for the boardroom:
- Stick to one statement piece.
- Keep clothes classic.
- Opt for silver- it's less flashy than gold.

4. Let's face it...trends change :(
- Over the years, I've learned how much it hurts to spend a fortune on jeans that I only end up wearing for half a season... SO, I've decided that dressing head to toe in expensive gear is so lame! I'd rather be thrifty when it comes to wearing trends and spend big money on statement items like a good pair of moccasins, an amazing leather jacket or a glitzy accessory I'll love forever.

5. Make a Good Impression (interviews/business lunches)
- Have a luxe-looking handbag thats well organized and in excellent condition.
- Have your cellphone on vibrate!
- Carry a chic laptop bag, or a handy sleeve that will allow you to slip it in your handbag.
- A posh pen...preferably un-chewed!
- A classic wallet...not bursting with receipts!

6. Stay Cozy
- If your office is kept at a frigid temperature, your instinct may be to curl up in a pashmina, blanket, scarf, or poncho (WAIT...poncho? NEVER!) but a cuter and more stylish solution is to keep a neutral (that doesn't mean white or beige!) or subtly patterned cardigan stashed away in your drawer for icy days.

7. Style your Suit
- Add shine, pattern (pinstripe) or colour to the basic power suit for a more friendly look that's anything but boring!
- Don't be afraid to mix and match suits! i.e. your grey power jacket with your black power pencil skirt.

e.e. cummings

my forever favourite poem by e. e. cummings

I carry your heart with me (I carry it in my heart)

I am never without it (anywhere I go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
By only me is your doing, my darling)

I fear No fate (for you are my fate, my sweet)
I want No world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
And it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
And whatever a sun will always sing is you

Here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(Here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
And the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
Higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
And this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

I carry your heart (I carry it in my heart)

Old old old.

I stumbled upon some old journal entries, and I thought I'd share them because they're kinda neat.

November 6, 2008

"Why do I always have huge crushes on guys that I KNOW aren't worth my time. Uh..."

March 31, 2009

"Sometimes it's good to just force a smile onto your face. It puts things into perspective and reminds me that I have lots to be happy about. I need to show it on my face."

April 13, 2009

"Scar and scab. It's kind of ironic that they have almost the same spelling."
